Medical Evacuation (Including COVID-19 positive patients)
The world we live has so much to offer and at the same time so much to take. Though it is a wonderful and peaceful abode it does have some adversities and challenges. Most of the time the issues and challenges come when someone faces a severe medical evacuation. Medical evacuation is a timely and effective movement and en route care, expertly delivered by medical personnel to any being at any location where medical help cannot be provided. We evacuated patients from hostile situation such as residence far away from a hospital, remote and desolate site, scene of an accident, conflict zone and battlefield and other similar situations. The injured patients are evacuated to the nearest medical facilities.
The ultimate aim and objective of the medical evacuation team are to save the lives of the needy and this is what we are good at. Our trained medical team evacuates the patient from these hostile and difficult areas providing them the required urgent aid and bringing them to a better-equipped facility.
Our organization works 24/7 across Malaysia to assist the needy and we know how important and delicate our job is especially with the global pandemic placing the entire world in danger. The fear of contagious disease, travel restrictions, social distancing, lockdowns, additional paper works, and processes make every effort to rescue and help patients more difficult than ever. This battle is fought on a daily basis against us and time. When we arrive at the spot, we assess what can be done in the next few minutes to provide medical help, then the process of evacuation will take place. In the meantime, continuous contact is maintained with the nearest medical facility while considering the required medical assistance to the patient.
Taking the shortest and traffic-free or less obstructed routes is an important aspect in emergency response. Evacuation of Covid-19 patients is a different approach, as we need to consider early isolation and quarantine process to prevent exposure to others.
The decision to evacuate the suspected or confirmed cases, isolation and quarantine within the community or outside the locality is done by the local public health authorities.
Most of the time there are two main reasons behind the evacuation during a pandemic. First is the public health reason in which suspected individuals are taken to a medical facility for medical tests and confirmations. Then, the confirmed cases are shifted and moved to isolated places to help contain the disease. The second reason for evacuation is evacuations for clinical reasons.
We do it for those individuals who are ailing and require medical care that are unavailable at a certain area. There is always a looming risk that a patient’s condition will deteriorate if urgent evacuation is not done.
